This month, we celebrate Nathan, one of our Blossom Artisanal employees. Blossom is a social venture created by Quest, Inc. to provide a safe and supportive work environment for adults and teenagers with developmental disabilities.
Nathan attended public school and was struggling academically and personally. With bullying issues and the pace of mainstream schooling, it was time for a change. After being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), he came to Quest at 10 years old, where he began to excel within a supportive and engaging learning environment at Quest Kids Academy (QKA).
During the latter part of his years at QKA, Nathan joined Blossom in the Work Study Program. He is a prime example of the positive impact that meaningful employment can have on individuals with developmental disabilities.
"He's so different since working at Blossom. Employment has changed him. He has this amazing confidence now," says France Torres, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at QKA.
His positive attitude and willingness to challenge himself over the years poised him for success as one of the first graduates from QKA in 2023! He now works as a part-time wholesale representative at Blossom. He beams confidently and is laser-focused on becoming Blossom's president one day. This program has been crucial to Nathan's development, providing him with job skills and workplace readiness.

Blossom believes that everyone has the potential to lead, supervise and manage. Nathan's eagerness to learn and show others what he's learned has not gone unnoticed, and he has the potential to become a leader.
"Nathan is one of the most eager employees I've ever worked with. He's always looking forward to learning something, or even eager to learn from his mistakes," says Rob Cage, VP of Education and Employment.
Blossom believes that everyone has the potential to thrive and contribute their unique talents to the world, and we are proud of all Nathan has accomplished.
"When I make a sale, I feel very proud of myself, and also, I feel awesome. So, I did something right," Nathan says.
